How can you find the right health insurance plan for your needs?

Finding the right health plan can be tricky. Start by defining your budget and list of must-haves — this will come in handy as you sift through plans and create your short list. Not sure where to start? We have some suggestions here.

What’s a deductible?

A deductible is the amount you’ll pay out of pocket for your care before insurance kicks in. For example, if your plan includes a deductible of $1,000, you’ll pay the first $1,000 in covered services. After that, your insurance will cover 60-90% of the bills, depending on your plan. What’s a MOOP?

A MOOP (or maximum out-of-pocket) is the most you’ll spend in a calendar year on eligible health expenses. Once you’ve met your MOOP, your insurance company will pay for any covered services for the rest of the year. Learn a few other health insurance terms here.

What’s a premium?

A premium is a set amount of money you pay (usually monthly) to keep your insurance plan active. Learn a few other health insurance terms here.
